I joined Gymophobics Belper whilst waiting for a hip replacement. It made so much difference to my recovery. Can't thank them enough.

I began attending Gymophobics Belper after a lifetime of stop start exercise and yo yo dieting, none of which was enjoyable or lasting. I’m 66 and could feel strength waning. Signing up for 12 months was a big deal for me but the motivation of that really helped! All the staff are just amazing, knowledgeable, kind, understanding and supportive in ways tailored to the individual. I just LOVE this gym, it has honestly been life changing and life affirming. The women only atmosphere is so embracing and there are women of all ages attending who quietly encourage each other with humour and love. Yes, I’ve lost weight but more importantly, I’m fitter in ways that can be clearly measured, recovery time, muscle mass, visceral fat etc etc. and I’ve lost a total of 13 plus inches since February. I would recommend this to absolutely any woman who wants to change and needs that special support. Thanks Gymophobics ❤️

I started as a member at the Belper branch of Gymophobics in October 2019. I joined because I'd lost about 3 stone and wanted to tone up and lose wobble. I've been doing my circuit 3 times per week pretty consistently since then, with the odd break for things like holidays and bereavement. My body has noticeably changed. I have muscle definition that I didn't ever think I would. I now realise the importance of resistance exercise for women especially. I am building my old lady body, an investment in my future. I joined initially because I liked that it was women only, it only took half an hour, it's a friendly environment, there are always instructors around making sure you're doing your exercises correctly, regular programme reviews to keep it challenging - promoted progression and that the booking system runs in conjunction with the buzzer system meaning you really are in and out in half an hour. I still love all of these things about it and wouldn't go to a regular gym if Gymophobics wasn't in my hometown. Disclosure: I am now an instructor at the gym. I love my job. The team are superb to work with and the atmosphere is unlike any other work environment I've experienced. I love helping the members achieve their goals and seeing them experience the benefits of resistance training. I've learned a phenomenal amount about how bodies work and nutrition since I started; it's really become a passion that I share with members in the gym and online in our various groups. I enjoy work nights out and gym socials too. Come and check us out - you won't be disappointed 😊

Friendly place, staff always smiling and helpful. I started attending 4 years ago as an alternative to increasing my medication for fibromyalgia..... I still haven't had to increase it. Thank you Gymophobics 😊

I’m no gym bunny but the warmth, kindness and supportiveness of the staff is amazing and every visit is fun and motivating. It feels like one big lovely community and we need more of that these days. Plus I’m getting healthier and stronger. What’s not to love.

Tonight would of been my 17th time going to this fab little Gym. I have really noticed the difference in my health over the past few weeks. I don’t know anyone at this gym but that hasn’t made any difference as everyone is so friendly. Equipment is easy to use and there is always a member of staff ready to help you and they review your progress at regular intervals. I don’t know why I didn’t join sooner, it’s a fantastic Gym. Especially geared up for us Ladies :-)) Thanks you

Joined 2 months ago, when I started I had acute sciatica, I now have no pain at all!! Haven't had a single pain for a couple of weeks and it's definitely down to going to gymophobics! Thanks for always being welcoming and supportive

I joined Gymophobics in Belper, June 2019, I wanted to get fitter and lose weight for my daughters wedding in December 2019. I managed to lose inches and 1.5stone by the December. Loved my time at the gym. I carried on until Covid hit...I was furloughed from work with no gym 😒 so I decided to do my own workout at home to keep me sane and managed to lose a further stone. My hours at work were cut so couldn't afford to carry on my gym contract. However, after a few months of missing my time at the gym, I recalculated my wages and joined up again. Since starting I've lost over 40 inches all over and so far, nearly 4 stone in weight. I feel fabulous 😊. Thank you to all the staff for their encouragement. I've met some lovely people there too. Carry on the good work, Gymophobics Belper. If you are thinking of joining, do it...you won't regret it. I love it. Karen

I joined on advice from a Chiropractor to help an injury in my lower back and its really helped build up my core muscles to get me moving again. I've found the 30 minute circuit really easy to fit into the day, no waiting for machines to come free which was a problem at the other gym. The staff are lovely and always happy to give support and advice. The fact that its women only means I don't have to worry about feeling awkward or self conscious while I'm working out either which has kept me motivated.
