A great club - highly recommended. Very friendly crowd

I arrived at Belper Chess Club two years ago and immediately felt welcome. Soon, I was playing a game against another new member and then with one of the club's most longstanding. Both games were friendly, with no sense of pressure - very much a learning experience. That's still how it is and I'm still learning! More serious matches are available in competitions and leagues for those who want them - but that's a matter of choice. No-one pressurises you at Belper Chess Club, but even the best players will give their time to help you get better.
