Great hotel, very good quality food and very friendly staff. The key thing for us was the fact that they are dog friendly and accommodated our needs. The location is amazing and easy access to the national park and everything else Derbyshire has to offer. Would definitely stay again.

Great service and nice traditional hotel. The bathroom would have benefited from a refurb and the shower water pressure could have been higher, but otherwise it was a very enjoyable stay. The breakfasts were indeed excellent. I would stay again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the very beautiful Makeney Hall. Straightforward check in with welcoming staff. Thrilled to be upgraded. Room absolutely gorgeous with everything needed, bed very comfortable, lovely quiet surroundings. Great breakfast. Special thank you to Lisa who served us very efficiently, answering our questions in a friendly, informative way.
We definitely intend to be back..
Noteworthy details: Tranquil surroundings within easy reach of motorway, Derby and all the beauty Derbyshire has to offer.

Just outside Belper. Lovely hotel in own grounds. Great room, we upgraded and it was very luxurious. Settee, walk in shower, super king size bed. Well worth extra cost. Food was very good with good portions and a different twist on flavours. Great prices also. Well recommend.
Food & drinks: Good prices. Great flavours.

Beautiful venue. Spacious clean and warm room. We have a courtyard room with stunning views. Listen for the owls in the evening 😊
Decent bar prices..
Restaurant is again fab. Just eaten and all was hot and delicious.
For the price..its bang for your buck.
Definately stay again.

The room was rather warm, with no way of controlling the heating and the window only opened a crack.
There was no hairdryer in the Bridal Suite (!!) so I had to take the hairdryer from room 21 into room 20.
There was blood on the undersheet of the bed at arrival and no sheet over the undersheet to cover this up.
Breakfast to the Brides room on the wedding day wasn't communicated to the kitchen. We were very hungry!
The staff were very friendly and tried to be accommodating as they could. After 8pm it was very very hard to get hold of anyone to raise any issues. I had to climb over reception to get the Bride's room key so she could change after the wedding.
Thank you for the cot, and providing oat milk on request. This was much appreciated.
Food & drinks: The vegan options at the wedding dinner were very small, with volume of lettuce making up most of the plates for starter and mains. I was left feeling hungry.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Makeney Hall Hotel who went above and beyond to place us in a room that was just perfect as a treat for my daughter (who couldn’t get over how big the bath and bed were)
All of the staff were lovely and always willing to help. Enjoyable breakfast.

Website looked impressive ,staff friendly but that’s the only positives I can honestly say. Driving up to the hotel looked lovely we have a small well behaved dog so was given a court yard room. The room itself is spacious but very dirty, as if it hasn’t seen a duster, polish and I wouldn’t take a bath in the bathroom due to it being so dirty. Very very disappointed

Me and my partner loved our Christmas break at Makeney Hall. We love the historic building and the Christmas decorations were lovely. The staff are all very helpful and kind and they made mocktails especially for us. We were upgraded to a gorgeous suite with the most amazing private sauna. The breakfast was hot and freshly cooked for us. We can’t wait to return especially when the weather is better so we can walk through the amazing acres of gardens. It is so relaxing there and we love the wildlife. We saw owls flying around and rabbits playing in the grass.
