Ordered eggs benedict with bacon. If you could call it bacon. Not sure what it was but it tasted nasty. The hollandaise sauce was watery and tastless. Overcooked eggs. Made me feel quite sick.
Also ordered a tea but the mug was dirty so had to ask for another which wasn't in a much better state. Left feeling disappointed and hungry so will not be returning.

Waited 40 mins for drinks & food, had to go up & ask how long it would be to be told it’s being made now?! Definitely forgot or didn’t realise our order was there as not even drinks been made and other people who walked in 10-20 mins after us getting their orders before us.
Food arrived after 40 mins and it was barely warm. Cold eggs. Very disappointing, used to come here every week but haven’t been for a while as last experience was disappointing also.. we thought we’d try again but severely disappointed and won’t be returning! No apologies for the wait or anything.

Love this place! Been visiting since moving to Belper with my family. Suitable for all ages young, old and inbetween! Easily accessible with a buggy, parking right outside. Great coffee and spot on breakfast.

Extremely dog friendly.
Ordered an extra sausage for the dog with our food and all came together.
Ordered at the counter and using the QR code without a hitch.

We waited over 45 minutes for drinks and food... while multiple tables came and went. Turns out they have completely forgotten about our order. Which is great when two children under 6 are with you, and we are all starving.
Oh, 53 minutes later, it is here! With an apology and £10 voucher, which is nice but you know what would be even better... a partial refund. Especially as a we aren't local (although do have family here so I guess we will pass it along to them.). Food was okay. Maybe request butter on the pancakes, especially if you order them without syrup, as they are quite dry. Atmosphere was decent but would be great if there were actually books to read (particularly given our wait) rather than just as part of the decor. Staff was nice. Not great to have three different ways to order (kiosk, QR code at the table, which we did, or at the counter) as obviously this system didn't work well for us!

We thought we had found the one.. dog friendly, nice breakfast.. on our recent visit half our food was cold, left on the pass for ages., had to ask them to re cook. Then young waitress plonked it half on and off the table..dirty cup with cream floating on the cup and saucer..quite a few staff but it’s a free for all, no one seems to know their role. use to go 3 times a week, have found somewhere else. Such a shame.

Used to frequent the Derby one quite a lot previously, and have now been to the Belper one a few times too. Always find the menu to have good variety and interesting dishes, and the food & coffee has always been very nice every time I've been. Been enjoying the veggie breakfasts recently. It's convenient that you can order via phone with the QR code or via the touch screen, and the service is always very friendly. There's always a nice atmosphere too. Keep up the good work :)

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff but the vegetarian grill was meatless but everything was deep fried to death which left me feeling a little queazey. I do think I picked the wrong dish as many of their other dishes looked very good liked the eggs and mushrooms and the avocado on toast with eggs.

Belper Bookcafe:
Well, what can I say; at face value... Books and coffee, two things I really appreciate.
However, this stop in Belper turned out to be much more than just books and coffee.
I came here with my partner on a spontaneous whim.... And I'm so glad we did, we had a lovely time and vow to return in the future.
The café is in an excellent spot, with dedicated parking which is free for up to two hours - anything more requires a permit from the café. As it turned out, 2 hrs was more than enough for us to have an elegant sufficiency :)
The building is two storey with customer dining on both the ground and first floor. There is also outside seating to be enjoyed when the sun is out. We opted for the ground floor as it seemed more sociable and we didn't want to disturb people reading upstairs.
The decor and atmosphere inside is one of the things I appreciated the most, it's rustic and industrial, with lots of interesting features.... And old books which really brings the name of the café to life.
The food was delicious, we ordered from the breakfast menu which was mostly locally sourced and was well worth paying that bit extra for.... Coupled with a coffee, it went down a real treat.
The staff were very friendly and service was what you would expect from an establishment that strives to deliver excellence. Polite and friendly which adds to the overall experience.
Before leaving we had to take a coffee and a slice of homemade cake for later on - yummy 😋
All in all, very happy with our stop and we will definitely be making a return visit in the future.
Thank you

This cafe is in the old Orangery at Belper. The refurb has brought back much of the character that was stripped out by McDs.
The food was fine - quite tasty but not outstanding. However, the quantity of the portions was not great for the price. The fried halloumi was nice and tasty but there were only a few pieces. The falafel were nice and (I think they were homemade - which is a bonus) but only a few of them. The leaves of the salad were of good variety but they felt a little soft and bland.
For the price (£20.05 for what was basically an open wrap, cup of tea, bowl of soup and a glass of orange juice) I felt that it was a little pricy.
I really do understand the pressures that small businesses are under at present but overall I felt somewhat underwhelmed.
